Back to Bermuda....

We (collectively) were able to spend 6 lovely nights in Bermuda this past July. It really is the perfect place to have some rum (or in my case, sip on some wine!), unwind and relax in a beautiful setting for a few days. We stayed in St. George’s this time around and I am very happy we did so. The south shore beaches are absolutely beautiful but the quaint, historic charm of St. George’s always brings us back there.

Woah, I'm going to Barbados

So, Barbados was pretty awesome.

Beautiful beaches, cheep beer/rum, relaxation, friendly people, easy and cheap public transportation...what more could you ask for?  I definitely hope to go back one day.  I was a little worried about traveling with a same sex couple, but we didn't have any problems at all. Everyone seemed to be super accepting (of course, we are tourists and they want our money) but it was a beautiful country and a great trip (especially because we got "stuck" in paradise one extra day - thanks mother nature!).

Until my next trip, I will have to live vicariously through these pictures.

So I'll be sailing on out into Bermuda blue

I was lucky enough to spend another 4 days in Bermuda this month. As lovely as the island appears in these pictures, they truly don't it justice. It's just as much about the experience as it is the beauty. It truly is the closest to paradise I
have gotten so far.

On our way down to the bus stop. Destination: Horseshoe Bay

The bus was taking its sweet time on this particular day.

Down in Bermuda the Pale Blue Sea

I finally got around to uploading my pictures from BermudaBermuda is a very interesting island. I didn’t find it to have much of its own culture. There isn’t a type of music native to the island, nor are there many foods or traditions unique to the island.

However, everything that Bermuda lacks in culture, it makes up for in beauty and tranquility. It’s as if the world stops around you as soon as you set foot on the island. All different hues of blue, green, and turquoise that you could imagine; not a billboard or high rise in sight; you won’t even find any fast food restaurants in Bermuda.

I wouldn’t go to Bermuda looking for a cultural experience, but it is the perfect place to go to if you want to unwind, sip on some rum, and enjoy the simplicity of nature and peace. I’d be there tomorrow if I could…
